OPEN CALL: Interdisciplinary MemoryLab “Between Memory and Stone” How do societies confront, reinterpret, and transform the Soviet legacy that continues to shape public space and collective memory? From 21 to 26 September 2026, historians, researchers, curators, educators, artists, journalists, philosophers, civil society practitioners, memory studies enthusiasts, and professionals from the humanities, arts, and social sciences from Ukraine, Poland, and Germany will come together in Berlin for an international interdisciplinary programme dedicated to memory, difficult heritage, and public history. Through workshops, lectures, discussions, and curatorial sessions, 15 selected participants will explore: the Soviet legacy in Germany, Poland, and Ukraine memory politics and public history as tools for democratic education artistic and civic interventions in post-totalitarian spaces new approaches to local memory and social responsibility Participants will also develop or expand their own research, artistic, or civic projects for publication as part of a digital and printed StoryMap.
