Sacatar Open Call 2027 – for two month fully-funded residencies
Sacatar provides individual rooms with attached baths, a separate private studio suitable for the artist’s discipline, meal service (except Saturday evenings, Sundays, and Brazilian holidays), laundry service, and logistical support to engage with local communities.
Duration of residency
Residency sessions are scheduled between May 2027 and April 2028, for two-month residency sessions with fixed dates stated in the application form
Accommodation

Disciplines, work equipment and assistance all disciplines, all nationalities, all ages. The average age of a Sacatar Fellow is 42. The youngest was 21. The oldest, 84. Sacatar is a low-tech environment, where we encourage artists to work with simple tools. There is wifi and (reasonably) reliable internet access. Studio / Workspace private Fees and support
The only fee is a $25 application fee. Artists must provide their own airfare to Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The airport initials are SSA.
Sacatar provides most meals, but artists are responsible for their own incidental expenses and working materials.
Expectations towards the artist
No obligation to talk or exhibit. Sacatar is a venue to explore new avenues of creativity, not to repeat your greatest hits.
